Steel Structure Warehouse Designed for Local Storage and Logistics Operations

This steel structure warehouse in Lilongwe, Malawi, was developed as a tailored solution for a client needing a practical, durable space for storage and distribution. The building uses a steel portal frame with a wide clear span and simple internal layout, making it suitable for long-term industrial and commercial use. All components were prefabricated in our manufacturing facility in China and shipped to Malawi as a complete prefab steel warehouse kit for on-site assembly.

This building located in Lilongwe, Malawi. The structure of the warehouse is a steel portal frame, the roof and wall used steel panels, and the bottom of the wall is a 2-meter high brick wall.A large awning facilitates the operation of vehicles in the loading area.

Project Overview

The warehouse covers approximately 4,500 m². The main structure is built from welded H-section steel columns and beams, supported by galvanized C/Z purlins. This creates a stable and reliable steel frame construction that performs well under Malawi’s seasonal weather conditions.

The facility is suitable for:

This project, located in Malawi, consists of two sections of steel structure buildings. The first section covers an area of 4,500 square meters (90m × 50m × 8m), and the second section spans 5,000 square meters (100m × 50m × 8m).

Strong Steel Portal Frame System

Malawi experiences strong winds, long periods of sunlight, and seasonal heavy rainfall. For this reason, the project uses a reinforced steel portal frame building with stable joints and high load-bearing capacity. This frame type has proven reliable in Africa for large-span industrial structures.

Durable Roof and Wall Panels

0.5mm color-coated steel sheets are used for both roof and wall cladding. They resist corrosion and maintain good performance in humid and hot environments. For clients with temperature-sensitive goods, insulation panels can be added to convert it into a moderate-temperature metal warehouse building.

Foundation and Moisture Protection

The warehouse sits on a concrete strip foundation designed according to soil conditions. A brick wall bottom is included to shield the steel panels from ground moisture and improve the building’s overall durability.

Efficient Loading and Daily Operation

Large Canopy for Loading and Unloading

A wide canopy is installed at the front of the warehouse. Even during the rainy season, trucks can dock and unload without delay. Forklifts can operate under cover, reducing downtime and improving workflow—especially valuable for logistics warehouse operations.

Clear Interior Layout

The interior has no unnecessary columns, leaving a large, open floor area. This simplifies rack arrangement and forklift movement, and allows the client to adjust the layout freely as their business evolves.
